Planning a wedding during an economic slowdown can be tough. The last thing anyone wants to do during a recession is take on more debt, especially the job outlook is unclear. The good news though is there are clever ways to save money on a wedding without sacrificing quality. The key thing to do is take on a lot of the work yourself.
When you hire a wedding planner, you have to pay for that wedding planners time. Also, while the wedding planner will always do his or her best to plan a great wedding to fit your budget, he or she will never be able to read your mind about what your priorities are. How much do you really want to skimp on wedding invitations or the band? Take the time to research a romantic, yet affordable getaway. There will be a lot of pricey attractions that seem fun. Often, these attractions aren't worth the cost. The main attraction of the honeymoon is your spouse, and spending time with him or her is free!
